All three seasons of Borgen are on Netflix. This is your chance to discover or watch again this excellent Danish series. Birgitte Hjort Sørensen’s character, Katrine Fønsmark, will also be back as news director for a large, nationwide television station. The new episodes will once again follow Birgitte Nyborg (Sidse Babett Knudsen), her staff and the media, but this time in her role as Foreign Minister. It will be produced by SAM Productions and is written by Adam Price. The new episodes will first premiere on the Danish channel before becoming available worldwide on Netflix. Netflix has partnered with DR, the Danish Broadcasting Corporation-who also produced Forbrydelsen ( The Killing) and The Bridge-, and will release brand new episodes of the drama in 2022.
The entire series first became available in the U.S.
It won the International Prize at the BAFTAs in 2012 and a Peabody Award in 2014, amongst other prizes. I also liked the Swedish Wallander which seemed a little less NOIR than the PBS version and the dog was so cute too. It was miles better than the limpid AMC version. The first season of the series was first launched in 2010, the second season the following year, and the third season in 2013. I'm still upset that no American channel/Netflix/Amazon has the original Danish version of The Killing. The rest of the season shows how she fairs as Prime Minister. Due to an unforeseen turn-of-events during the country’s general elections, Nyborg suddenly finds herself becoming Denmark’s first female Prime Minister after winning a landslide majority. At the beginning of season one, Birgitte Nyborg (Sidse Babett Knudsen) is the leader of the centrist party, called The Moderates, of the Danish parliament. If you’ve never before seen the series, much of the action of the series takes place within the Christiansborg Palace, also nicknamed ‘Borgen,’ where Denmark’s Parliament, Prime Minister’s Office and Supreme Court are housed. Stephen King, after all, did name Borgen the best television he watched in 2012. With four seasons out and an IMDB score of 8/10 and a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 96, Rectify is definitely one crime drama that will hold your attention for a long while after the buzz of The Killing subsides. Easy comparisons could be made to The West Wing or House of Cards, but the Danish show has nothing to envy from these popular American political dramas.
Created by Adam Price, the series follows the ascent of Birgitte Nyborg (Sidse Babett Knudsen), who becomes the first female Prime Minister of Denmark.
